Old Dan Trick Tables

The JKA has revised the trick tables for Dan examinations several times. Here are some of the trick tables from previous years.

Example: 4th Dan, trick 1 (Spike) shows “8/5.”  That means you have to have 8 consecutive successes in 5 level attempts for the trick. (see below)

Consecutive success is required for most of tricks.

9 9 Dan and 10 Dan: Instead of an examination, the JKA administration evaluates each candidate’s activities in promoting Kendama awareness and contribution to the development of the JKA. The 9 Dan and 10 Dan rank is approved based on paragraph 2 of the JKA official ranking regulation.

FEATURES & UPDATES:

Since players improved their technique, the trick table was revised. 
The technical gap between 1 Kyu and 1 Dan became larger so 1st Dan in the 1979 trick table was used as Pre-Dan (Junshodan) level to fill the gap as an operation in training practice.
